Shakuhachi
This is an excerpt of Kumoi Jishi, part of the traditional Kinko-ryu repertoire, played a benefit at the opening of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Theater in Mumbai, India in 2023.
Henry Cowell’s “The Universal Flute” was written during a lifelong relationship with a shakuhachi player who worked in a grocery mart in San Francisco… Here I am playing on my own natural bore shakuhachi, made during the Covid Lockdowns.
